Have you heard the one about the grandfather who got notified that he was to report to kindergarten because of Y2K problems? Perhaps you heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend-. But where does tale come from? Is there any truth behind the stories, rumors, and suppositions floating around through popular culture and even respected sources?

Alright, I admit that through the Y2K days Hank has become a friend of mine and some of my corresdpondence with him is quoted in the book.

Probably no one is reading this book now or the reviews three years after Y2K, but in retrospect we should all consider how so many of us were sold terrifying angles by people who had their own axes to grind. People were so up in arms with their opinions, that those of us publishing less than alarmist views received everything from insults to death threats for interfering with the public reaching what others thought was the appropriate level of panic (including setting aside food, guns, etc.)

I'd like to think it couldn't happen again. I'd like to.

As is often the case with many critics, they are quick with the criticism and more often than not, incapable of admitting when they were wrong and even more incapable of offering an apology. Hank Hanegraaf was one of the few Chistians who stood firm in his conviction that Y2K would come and go without a hitch. Even the very intelligent and capable Dr. R.C. Sproul in "Table Talk" magazine taught that at the very least, we would experience worldwide catastrophe! Incredible! Yet where are the critics now? You who said Hank was "unqualified" should come out of hiding and admit you were wrong.

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

The more I read Hank, the more I love him. He just keeps expressing all of my frustrations with a Christian community that continually falls prey to bogus and unbliblical behaviours. I am a consultant in the manufacturing industry. I can tell you that plenty of my collegues cashed in on this farce. In some cases, it was just a matter of one or two lines of code! And along with all the 'consultants', plenty of "Christians" cashed in too. I am happy to say I did NOT participate in this mass rip-off, neither professionally NOR religiously. I care where I go when I die. Thanks again Hank. I can never read your books fast enough.

It's easy in retrospect to see the clear evidence of Hank's latest endeavor to wake the Christian community up. The Millennium Bug Debugged is a well researched book concerning Y2K reports that exposes other books (like the Millennium Bug) hidden agenda to make money preying on peoples fear.

It would be almost comical to read back on positive reviews and comments from "experienced" programmers and computer experts for other books (like the Millennium Bug)if lives weren't devastated by it's ramifications.

Good job Hank! You're one author who isn't walking around with egg on your face. Time has revealed that.

Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5 Why isn't Hank qualified?, 1999-11-24
I find it interesting the amount of people who say that Hank should not have written this book because he is not qualified. He is not a computer programer and is not invloved in computer issues. Why is it that these same people say Grant Jeffery is qualifed? Does Jeffery have any more experience than Hank? I found this book refreshing in a few ways. 1)Unlike the normal accusations thrown, Hank looks at and critiques the veiws of men that he respects and says they are wrong in their views. Normally people say he only attacks Charimatics (which he doesn't) and people of the Faith movement (in that he only attacks theology, not the people themselves); 2) This book (unlike Jeffery's) is well documented making it easy to double check Hanks finding. In Jeffery's book you are lucky if you get the year and article was published.
