Customer Reviews
Classic Spanish Poetry, 2007-08-11 It's great to read St. John of the Cross in the original. What a master of language! Unfortunately, the English translation doesn't try very hard to replicate the poetic elements. So the translation seems a little wooden. Usually accurate, but no more. This is a good book for those who want to appreciate the Spanish text, but if you don't know Spanish, the English won't give you a good feel for why St. John of the Cross is so highly esteemed in Spanish literature.
